Access infomation ( Highwaty Bus)

Major means to access to Tokai from Narita airport include buses and trains as shown by rout map of Narita airport, Tokyo Metropolitan area, Mito and Tokai as below. Airport bus “Rose Liner” from Narita airport bound for Hitachi station, which makes brief stops at Mito station and Tokai station, is the most convenient way. Passengers traveling by trains to Mito or Tokai will make a travel once to Tokyo Metropolitan area and then take train on Joban Line of East Japan Railway Company (JR) at Ueno station in Tokyo. Limited Express train on Joban Line (“Super-Hitachi” or “Fresh Hitachi”: between Ueno station and Mito/Iwaki area) runs every 30 minutes. It takes 70 to 90 minutes from Ueno to Mito. Details of buses and trains are given in the following pages.
Tokai is located north of Mito city. It takes only 15 minutes by local train on Joban Line. From Tokai station to the campus of U of Tokyo, bus transportation is available. However, it is recommended to take a taxi at Tokai station because the bus service is very infrequent. Taxi costs 1,500 ~ 1,700 yen.

Airport bus “Rose Liner” from Narita Airport to Mito or Tokai

Rose Liner bound for Hitachi station stops both at Mito station and Tokai station. The one-way fare between Narita and Mito/Tokai is ¥ 3,000 and it takes about 120 minutes to Mito and 150 minutes to Tokai. A bus ticket is sold at KEISEI counter in the arrival lobby after the custom of Narita airport. Bus stop is outside of terminal buildings and the bus stop No.8 at terminal-1 and the bus stop No.10 at Terminal-2 are for “Rose Liner”.
